Dear friends

 

This is a difficult letter to write, but I want all who know Dorothy to hold
her in your prayers and send her good energy. Please pass this along to any
who might be interested.

 

Some of you may know Dorothy went into the hospital last September and has
been back and forth from the hospital to various nursing facilities. She has
dealt with a number of health issues during this time, but her most recent
were wounds that developed on her hips and thighs. These have gotten much
worse and although they tried to clean them out and put on a wound vac, this
didn't help.

 

She is currently at Select Specialty at Mt. Caramel Hospital in Downtown
Columbus (Ohio), Select Specialty is on the 5th floor (take the Central
Elevators) and the nursing station can direct you to her room. If you want
to see Dorothy, now is the time. She could certainly use some friendly and
loving visitors and she always loves pretty flowers. 

 

We met with the Palliative Care Team yesterday morning and made the decision
to stop treatment, take her off nearly all her medications. No more IV's, no
more shots, etc. She will be made as comfortable as possible. This is an
extremely difficult time for her not just physically but emotionally as
well. She will be moving from Select Specialty on Tuesday to a hospice
facility (we're not sure where yet).
