Hello Ohio Lesbian Festival Friends
As past attendees and supporters of the festival, the OLF
committee is asking for your help. As you know this year is the 20th
anniversary of the festival and we are going all out to make this a great
year. You also know the festival has struggled with low attendance
the past 2 years (in part related to weather.) The 2009 festival must be a
success if this event is to continue - and this is where we need your
help!
Please send the following press release to as many womyn as possible - we
are asking you to take a moment and go through your address book and help us
spread the word. Because we are including camping this year - we hope to
draw womyn from neighboring states and all around Ohio - so be creative in who
you send it to!!
This year we are pulling out all the stops and producing a rockin' weekend
to celebrate 20 years - so get your tickets early and please help us get the
word out so that this vital icon of womyn's community can continue to provide precious womyn-only space for all womyn!
Thanks for your continued love and support!

Columbus: The Ohio Lesbian Festival (OLF)
marks its 20th Anniversary this year with many new and exciting
changes. The September 19 & 20,
2009 event will be the first time the festival will be held over 2 days and
includes free camping for attendees.
The OLF, began in 1988 and has been held each
year at Frontier Ranch just east of Columbus, features local, regional and
nationally known womyn’s music performers and includes a merchant / indie craft
market, workshops, an after hours dance and a relaxing and fun-filled weekend
for womyn. The addition of camping
on Saturday promises to make the Festival more accessible to more womyn, many of
whom travel from neighboring states to attend.
In honor of the 20th Anniversary, festival organizers have committed to making changes and
improvements in the festival to enhance attendees’ experience. In response to feedback from past
participants, a new expanded and improved food concession will include old
favorites (Pat’s Chili) and many new menu items. Corn on the cob and a variety of
vegetarian options are being added. Because the event is 2 days long, there will be breakfast foods
available on Sunday morning and the concession stand will stay open later in the
evening to meet the needs of those late night snackers.
The Frontier Ranch property has also
undergone renovations that make festival production easier and camping more
appealing. A newly remodeled shower
house and improvements to the stage area and the concession stands will make for
a pleasant experience for everyone.
Festival headliners include: Cris
Williamson, Alix Olson and God-dess & She as well as numerous other
performers. A full list of
performers, many other details and ticket information, including the ability to purchase tickets are all available on the
website www.ohiolba.org

The OhioLesbian Festival is a
not-for-profit, volunteer driven womyn only event designed to promote womyn’s
community and art. The Festival was
founded on the premise that lesbians and queer womyn need opportunities and
spaces to recognize and support each other, to define our culture, to find our
own strengths and to be empowered. The Festival is open to all womyn.
